Natural Wood Information and Care Guidelines

Is it possible for a floor to sweep you off your feet? A Reward Hardwood Floor will make you fall in love with your home all over again.

When you select natural wood products, please bear in mind some basic facts that are important to your future satisfaction of your flooring investment.

Structure

Wood products are natural and are subject to inherent variations of color and shade and may have flaws, irregular markings, voids, fissures, and lines of minor separations from 1/16”-1/32”. These variations will not impair the function or wearing qualities of the wood. In time, as a result of normal wear, splits and voids may appear. Your wood flooring professional may be able to repair these if and when they occur. In most instances you would be responsible for these costs.

Appearance

The wood you select may not exactly match the sample you may have been shown and can vary from piece to piece. The beauty of natural wood, exposure to sunlight, natural lightening or darkening of wood over time, the staining process, and hand-applied character (if any), give wood flooring its unique character.

Maintenance

Your wood floor has been treated with a finish engineered to provide years of protection. Please follow these guidelines to ensure that your floor remains beautiful for years to come:

  1. Sweep regularly with a soft bristle broom or vacuum with a soft floor attachment. Surface dirt can scratch or dull your floor’s finish.
  2. Use throw rugs on both sides of entrances and on areas subject to high traffic or moisture.
  3. Never wet or damp mop your floor or use products designed for tile, vinyl, or other surfaces. Instead, use a wood floor-cleaning product available from your flooring professional. Wipe up spills immediately. Moisture can cause discoloration, cupping, and damage to the finish.
  4. High-heel shoes, cleats, pet toenails, anf furniture legs can damage your floor. Protect it by removing shoes, trimming toenails, using furniture pads, and not dragging sharp of heavy objects across your floor.
  5. Maintain the temperature inside your home at "live-in" conditions whether occupied or vacant. Use a humidifier if necessary.
